Digital Organizing for a Computer Includes:

Running a backup of your system before I start, as a precaution, and when I finish, to ensure you are protected.

Running a malware check.

Installing operating system updates.

Performing an application check to purge unneeded ones and update the necessary ones.

Scanning for duplicate files to increase available storage space. 

Cleaning out the downloads folder.

Confirming media files (music, photos, and videos) are sorted into the proper location.

Organizing your files. It’s vital to implement a filing system you can stick to. Don’t make it too complicated and let the workflow dictate the structure. There are several basic file structures from which to choose. Which one works best depends on how you work. 

Project or client-based file system: A good starting place for most. If you end up with more than ten files per project or client, you can utilize another type of system at the secondary level.
Date-based file system: A folder for each year with a sub-folder for each month and further sub-folders as necessary. The date-based structure is ideal when you regularly work with similar files. For example, reports, where only the date and the numbers change, are ideal for the data-base system.
File Type-Based File System: Information is grouped based on its type. Headings like lease agreements, utilities, or marketing allow you to organize all of your files by their category. A file type structure works best when contained within a client or project file unless you only have one employer.List item
